DECEMBER AND YEAR-END VOLUME
PHLX HAS RECORD VOLUME YEAR FOR EQUITY OPTIONS AND WORLD CURRENCY OPTIONS

PHILADELPHIA - Jan. 8, 2007 - The Philadelphia Stock Exchange announced today its December volumes and performance figures for 2007 that were marked by record-breaking volumes. PHLX was also the fourth largest options exchange in the world as reported in FI Magazine based on figures through September 2007.

Equity Options 2007:
• Equity option volume reached an all-time high for the year
• Equity option volume reached an all-time record high on December 20, when 6,399,457 contracts traded representing an all-time high market share of 31.50 %.
• Average daily volume in December for equity options reached a record high of 2,001,049 contracts
• Market share for equity options in 2007 was a record 15.40%,
• Equity options reached record highs in May, June, July and October

World Currency Options 2007:
• World Currency Options reached all-time record open interest in December
• World Currency Options reached a one-day record high volume on December 20 when 94,120 contracts traded

Equity option volume in 2007 reached an all-time high when 399,147,901 contracts traded compared to 2006 when 265,370,986 contracts traded. This was a 50.41% year-over-year growth. Equity option volume in December reached 40,020,981 contracts, a decrease of 2.50% compared to the previous month when 41,047,601 contracts traded.

Average daily volume in December for equity options reached 2,001,049, up 2.38% from last month. PHLX market share in December was 18.31%. Market share without ex-dividend volume was 14.50%.

Market share for equity options in 2007 was a record 15.40%, a growth of 7.02% compared to 2006 when market share was 14.39%.

Equity volume in December soared 120.50% when 137,773,131 shares traded compared to the same year-ago period when 62,481,138 shares traded. Equity volume decreased 10.42% compared to the previous month when 153,807,319 shares traded. Equity volume was up 102.32% for the year on a volume of 1,614,390,536 shares trades compared to 782,482,940 shares traded in 2006.

Index options volume for 2007 decreased 11.26% when 6,766,901 contracts traded compared to last year when 7,625,523 contracts traded. Volume in December reached 417,615 contracts, up 11.37% compared to the same year-ago period when 374,977 contracts traded. Volume in index options in December declined 30.70% compared to the previous month when 602,652 contracts traded.

Volume on the six newly traded World Currency Options (WCOs) totaled 2,026,838 contracts in 2007. In December, volume was 484,895, a 12.95% decrease compared to the previous month when 557,038 contracts traded.

WCOs ended December with a record open interest of 879,113 contracts. On December 20, WCO volume soared to a one-day record high volume of 94,120 contracts.

Trading volume in the customized and standardized currency options for December totaled 1,067 contracts, an increase of 269.20% compared to the previous month when 289 contracts traded. Volume in December decreased 88.81% compared to the same year-ago period when 9,532 contracts traded. Year-to-date volume was 77,841 contracts, a decrease of 40.81% compared to 2006 when 131,508 contracts traded.
