PHILADELPHIA MAYOR-ELECT MICHAEL NUTTER RINGS THE OPENING BELL AT THE PHILADELPHIA STOCK EXCHANGE ON WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 2

PHILADELPHIA – Dec. 31, 2007 – Philadelphia Mayor-Elect Michael Nutter kicked off trading for the New Year on the floor of the Philadelphia Stock Exchange (PHLX) on Wednesday, January 2 when he rang the opening bell.

For the eighth year in a row, the Mayor of Philadelphia will be at the Exchange to usher in the start of the new trading year. His appearance marks the first in a year long series of prominent people invited to ring the opening bell at the nation’s first stock exchange.

The Philadelphia Stock Exchange was founded in 1790.
