- The Philadelphia Stock Exchange (PHLX) announced today that equity
option volume in August jumped 83.17% when 37,282,364 contracts traded
compared to the same year-ago period when 20,354,679 contracts traded.
Equity option volume in August was down 8.89% compared to the previous
month when 40,921,003 contracts traded.
Average daily volume in August for equity options reached 1,621,059
contracts.
PHLX market share in August was 14.26%. Market share without ex-dividend
volume was 14.01 % when 36,628,220 contracts traded.
Equity volume for August skyrocketed 338.32% when 190,449,326 shares
traded compared to the same year-ago period when 43,449,753 shares
traded. Equity volume for August increased 51.29% compared the previous
month when 125, 884,015shares traded.
Volume on the six newly traded World Currency Options (WCOs) rose
236.34% in August when 158,576 contracts traded compared to 47,148
contracts traded during the previous month.
WCOs ended August with an open interest of 181,579 contracts. WCOs
reached a record volume on August 29 when 36,686 contracts traded.
Trading volume in the customized and standardized currency options
for August totaled 5,499 contracts, a decrease of 48.21% compared
to the previous month when 10,617 contracts traded.
Volume in August decreased 50.49% compared to the same year-ago period
when 11,107 contracts traded.
Sectors index options volume for August increased 6.63% when 702,976
contracts traded compared to the previous month when 659,268 contracts
traded. Volume in sectors index options in August rose 37.36% compared
to same year-ago period when 511,765 contracts traded
