PHILADELPHIA- June 10, 2006 -
The Philadelphia Stock Exchange announced today that equity
option volume increased 77.96% when 19,862,026 contracts traded
compared to the same year-ago period when 11,160,829 contracts
traded. Equity option volume in June declined 18.56% compared
to the previous month when 24,387,765 contracts traded. The
Exchange garnered 13.13 % equity options market share in June
making it the third largest market center for options for the
eighth month in a row. Market share without ex-dividend volume
of 19,004,132 contracts was 12.63%.
Sectors index options volume in June increased 59.39% when 870,374
contracts traded compared to the same year-ago period when 546,071
contracts traded. Volume in sectors index options in June decreased
17.76 % compared to 1,058,319 contracts traded in the previous
month.
Equity volume for June decreased 36.78% when 68,435,260 shares
traded compared the same year-ago period when 108,257,009 shares
traded. Equity volume for June decreased 13.64% compared to
the previous month when 79,240,947 shares traded.
Trading volume in the customized and standardized currency options
for June totaled 10,488 contracts, a decrease of 18.04% compared
to the same year-ago period when 12,797 contracts traded. Volume
in June decreased 39.11% compared to the previous month when
17,224 contracts traded.
