PHILADELPHIA- June 6, 2005 — The Philadelphia Stock Exchange
announced today that equity volume for May reached 134,746,323 shares,
up 5.66% from the previous month when 127,531,932 shares traded.
Volume for May declined 45.76% compared to the same year-ago period
when 248,423,653 shares traded.
Equity options volume for May declined 12.02% when 10,070,405 contracts
traded compared to the previous month when 11,446,856 contracts traded.
Equity options volume in May increased 3.63% when compared to the
same year-ago period when 9,717,982 contracts traded.
Volume in sectors index options decreased 32.97% when 392,342 contracts
traded compared 585,331 contracts traded in the previous month. Sectors
index options volume in May declined 24.46% compared to the same
year-ago period when 519,352 contracts traded.
Volume trading volume in the customized and standardized currency
options for May contracts traded. Volume increased 37.75% compared
to the same year-ago period when 11,974 contracts traded
