THE PHILADELPHIA STOCK EXCHANGE ANNOUNCES NOVEMBER VOLUME
“ PHLX volume increases across-the-board in all products”

PHILADELPHIA — Dec. 6, 2004 — The Philadelphia Stock Exchange announced today volume increased in all product lines compared to the previous month’s trading.
Equity options volume rose 19.54% when 11,916,067 contracts traded compared to the previous month when 9,968,300 contracts traded. Equity option volume rose 19.42% compared to the same year- ago period.

Equity volume for November increased 6.14% when 272,422,190 shares traded compared to the previous month when 256,672,374 shares traded. Equity volume rose 18.40% compared to the same year-ago period.

Sectors index options volume rose 21.52% when 449,650 contracts traded compared to the previous month when 370,032 contracts traded. Trading volume increased 61.83% compared to the same year-ago period when 277,847 contracts traded. Year-to date trading in sectors index options increased 72.68%.

Trading volume in the customized and standardized currency options for November totaled 24,217 contracts, an increase of 66.99 % compared to the previous month when 14,502 contracts traded.

The PHLX now trades iShares FTSE/Xinhua China 25 Index Fund (FXISM) This is the first time investors in the United States and abroad will be able to track the performance of the largest and most widely traded Chinese stocks by mirroring the FTSE/Xinhua China 25 Index, which captures the top Chinese stocks available to international investors by total market capitalization.

The PHLX also lists two options on the NASDAQ Composite Index® which are listed and traded only at the Philadelphia Stock Exchange. Options on the Nasdaq Composite Index offer investors a unique instrument for trading and hedging. Put and call options are available in both full-size (QCX) and mini contracts (QCE). Both of these products are the only option products available on the Index that are cash-settled with a European-Type exercise.
