PHILADELPHIA — October 18, 2004 — U.S.
Rep. Paul E. Kanjorski (Pa-11), the ranking Democrat on the House
Financial Services Subcommittee
on Capital Markets, rang the opening bell at the Philadelphia
Stock Exchange on Wednesday, October 20.
Representative Kanjorski is the second most senior Democrat on the
House Financial Services Committee and the most senior Democrat
on the Capital Markets Subcommittee, which has jurisdiction
over the
SEC and the Federal securities laws. Completing his tenth term
in the House of Representatives, Kanjorski represents the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton
area. He is the only Pennsylvania Democrat who serves on the
House Financial Services Committee. Representative Kanjorski has
been
a
strong supporter of competition in the U.S. securities markets
and the role of the regional exchanges.
