Smarty Jones Team To Ring The Opening Bell At The Philadelphia Stock Exchange On Tuesday, August 3

PHILADELPHIA – July 30, 2004 –Members of the Smarty Jones team will ring the opening bell on the floor of the Exchange on Tuesday, August 3. Remarks will begin promptly at 9:20 a.m., 10 minutes before trading begins.

Randy and Michael Chapman, sons of Smarty’s owners Patricia and Roy Chapman, will be here representing their family along with Sherry Servis, wife of Smarty’s trainer John Servis, and Bill Foster, who works with Mr. Servis to take care of Philadelphia’s hometown hero horse.

The appearance of the Smarty Jones team marks another in a yearlong series of prominent people invited to ring the opening bell every month. Philadelphia Mayor John F. Street kicked off trading for the New Year on the floor of the Philadelphia Stock Exchange on Friday, Jan. 2.

The media is invited for interviews starting at 9:15 a.m. in the Exchange's lobby. Photography is permitted on the trading floor.
