Meyer (Sandy) Frucher was appointed Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Philadelphia Stock Exchange (PHLX) in June 1998. Under his leadership, the PHLX has emerged as a technology and product innovator among U.S. marketplaces. Under Mr. Frucher's leadership, the PHLX built an advanced trading system that has set new industry standards for exchange trading technology. He also led the effort to demutualize the Exchange making the PHLX the first floor-based exchange to convert from a seat-owned, mutual cooperative institution to a for-profit, shareholding Delaware company. In 2005, Mr. Frucher enhanced the PHLX’s competitive position by striking strategic alliances with six key Wall Street and derivatives firms including Citadel Derivatives Trading Group LLC, Citigroup, Credit Suisse, Merrill Lynch, Morgan Stanley and UBS. Each firm made significant investments in the PHLX and are now key shareholders in the Exchange. Mr. Frucher also spearheaded the revitalization of the Philadelphia Board of Trade (PBOT), the futures market subsidiary to the PHLX. Before Mr. Frucher came to the PHLX, he gained extensive experience in business, government and labor relations. Among other positions, he has served as a Management Consultant to major organizations including World Financial Properties Inc., formerly Olympia and York. He served as Executive Vice President of Development for Olympia and York from 1988 to 1996, where he coordinated and oversaw all development projects in the U.S. Mr. Frucher led two major, quasi-public authorities in New York where he was responsible for the development, financing and construction of complex, large-scale public and private facilities. He served from 1984 to 1988 as President and CEO of the Battery Park City Authority in New York City. Mr. Frucher was Chief Labor Negotiator for the state of New York from 1978 to 1983. In addition to his responsibilities at the PHLX, Mr. Frucher is
the founding chairman and trustee emeritus of the Board of the Massachusetts
Museum of Contemporary Art, an institution responsible for developing
the largest center for contemporary visual and performing arts in
the United States. He also sits on the Board of the Saratoga Performing
Arts Center located in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.
John F. Wallace, President of Wallace Securities Corp., has been associated with the Philadelphia Stock Exchange (PHLX) since 1964 and has been a member since 1971. He has been a Governor serving on the PHLX Board since 1984. He served as Chairman twice in the 1990’s, and as Vice Chairman in 1996 and again from September 1997 to the present. He has also served as Chairman of the Board of the Stock Clearing Corporation of Philadelphia, Chairman of the Board of the Philadelphia Board of Trade, Chairman of the Board of the Philadelphia Depository Corporation and a board member of the Exchange’s technology subsidiary, Advanced Tech Source Company (ATS). During his tenure at the PHLX, Mr. Wallace has traded on all floors of the Exchange in the capacity of a specialist on the options and equity floors, as a floor broker for equities, options and currencies, and as a Registered Options Trader. In addition to his current service as Chairman of the Options Committee and member of the Executive Committee, Mr. Wallace has served on virtually every Exchange Committee and has chaired the following committees: Allocation, Evaluation and Securities; Elections; Finance; Marketing; Admissions; Arbitration; Nominating; New Product Development and Long Range Strategic Planning. Over the course of his career in the securities industry, Mr. Wallace has been a member of the Toronto Stock Exchange, as well as registered with the National Futures Association as a floor broker. Mr. Wallace is a graduate of Franklin & Marshall College. He has served for 27 years in the United States Army, the Army Reserve and the Army National Guard, currently holding the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He saw active duty in Grenada in 1983 with 1st Special Operations Command and in Desert Storm from December 1990 to July 1991, with the Third U.S. Army. He is a graduate of the United States Army Command and General Staff College and the National Emergency Management Institute of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Mr. Wallace is also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the
Military Order of World Wars, the Reserve Officers Association and
the U.S. Naval Institute. He currently serves as a Board member of
the Chapel of the Four Chaplains in Valley Forge, PA.
Daniel Bigelow is a managing partner of Monadnock Capital Management
L.P. Mr. Bigelow has been a member and registered options trader at
the Exchange since 1993, having previously clerked on the Exchange
options floor in 1991. Mr. Bigelow has served on the Options Committee
since 1999 and has served on its Space Allocation Sub-Committee and
Electronic Trading Sub-Committee. In 1980-90, Mr. Bigelow was on active
duty in the United States Marine Corps as a Naval Flight Officer flying
A-6E Intruder aircraft. He served in the Marine Corps Ready Reserves
from 1990-1997, last serving as a Major. Kevin Carroll is Vice President of Citigroup Derivatives Markets Inc. in Philadelphia and is responsible for managing 200 options books and a staff of thirty-five (35) personnel. Mr. Carroll was previously associated with UBS Warburg as Global Head Trader/Manager for Interest Rate Risk for Foreign Exchange and Precious Metals from 1998-2003. Prior to that, Mr. Carroll was associated with SBC Warburg Dillon Reed, Inc. as head of Phlx operations trading G-10 currency options and EMS crosses. In 1995, Mr. Carroll worked for SBC in Chicago trading and managing risk for SBC’s OTC foreign exchange options books. In 1994 Mr. Carroll opened the Swiss Bank Paris office at the MATIF. From 1983-94, Mr. Carroll served as a Phlx equity and foreign currency options trader for O’Conner & Associates/SBC. During that period he served as Chair of the Exchange’s Foreign Currency Options Committee from 1992-1994. Since returning to Phlx, Mr. Carroll has served on the Options Committee for the past two years.
Mr. Carter is a managing director of Credit Suisse in the Equity
Division based in New York. He is global head of equity options and
structured derivatives and is responsible for customer trading and
proprietary arbitrage of listed and structured equity derivatives.
Prior to joining CSFB, Mr. Carter was managing director in charge of European and Japanese Equity Derivatives at Bankers Trust. He began his career with Bankers Trust trading equity derivatives in New York and traded in both Tokyo and London prior to moving to Hong Kong for Credit Suisse First Boston. Mr. Carter received his M.B.A. in finance from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and his B.A. in economics from Brigham Young University.
Michael Curcio is responsible for the strategic direction, customer relationships and ongoing financial management of E*TRADE FINANCIAL’s retail operations, including the investing, cash management, and lending products and services designed for the Company’s domestic and international investors. Mr. Curcio’s expertise in developing and implementing innovative products and services is evident in the wide range of standard-setting initiatives he has introduced since joining E*TRADE Securities in 2002. Mr. Curcio has played a central role in launching such industry firsts as E*TRADE Securities’ 2-second execution guarantee. In addition, he is responsible for the Company’s products and services tailored to mass affluent customers, having created and rapidly developed E*TRADE Securities’ advice offering, bringing a stronger service dimension to E*TRADE Securities’ asset expansion strategy. Mr. Curcio joined E*TRADE FINANCIAL after a 15 year tenure at TD
Waterhouse, where he last served as Executive Vice President, Customer
Relationship Management. Mr. Dandridge is a co-chair of the securities practice team and is a member of the business services department in the firm of Schnader Harrison Segal and Lewis LLP. From 1995 to 1998, he served as the associate director (small business) division of Corporation Finance, Securities and Exchange Commission. He was also a member of the commission's municipal financial group. He was also a member of the commission's municipal finance group and chairman of the annual government forum on small business capital formation. Mr. Dandridge an adjunct professor of law at the Boston University School of Law's Morin Center for banking and financial law studies, a member of the American Law Institute and a lecturer on topics concerning securities issues. Prior to entering private practice, he served as special counsel in the SEC's division of corporation finance. Mr. Dandridge concentrates his practice in municipal and corporate finance matters. He regularly counsels major public companies, broker-dealers and investment advisors with respect to their securities reporting and financing requirements. Mr. Dandridge received a bachelor of arts magna cum laude, and a J.D. from Temple University School of Law; an LL.M from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, where he was a fellow at the Center for Study of Financial Institutions.
Peter Erichsen became vice president and general counsel of the trust and secretary to the Board of Trustees in September 2001. He serves as chief legal advisor to the president, trustees and senior management of the trust and he supervises a team of three staff lawyers as well as the well as the work of outside counsel to the trust. Mr. Erichsen joined the trust's senior management team for the University of Pennsylvania, where he was vice president and general counsel from 1997 to 2001, serving as chief legal advisor to both the president of the university and the chief executive officer of Penn's four-hospital health system. Upon graduation from Harvard Law School in 1981, Mr. Erichsen joined the law firm of Ropes and Gray in Boston and financial institutions and companies in the computer networking, retail, and electric utility and consumer products sectors. In 1993, Mr. Erichsen became a Deputy Assistant Attorney General in the United States Department of Justice in Washington. His principal responsibility for judicial selection and later he supervised the work of the Office of the White House Council in connection with executive branch appointments, including the 1996-97 cabinet transition. He graduated from Harvard College in 1978. Kay Evans Kay Evans has spent the last seven and a half years as the System Executive Director at the Maine State Retirement System (MSRS), having been its Assistant Executive Director and Deputy Director. The MSRS provides retirement and related benefit programs for all of the state's employees, its public school teachers and several thousand employees of other public sector entities and has an investment portfolio of $8 billion. Prior to that time, Ms. Evans was the Founding Director of the Maine Law-Related Education Program at the University of Maine School of Law in Portland, Maine. Ms. Evans also served as Bureau Director and, later, Associate Commissioner of the Maine Department of Agriculture, Food and Rural Resources. She began her legal career as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Maine. Ms. Evans received her JD from the University of Maine School of Law, her MA in Special Education from Columbia University, and her BA in History from Stanford University.
Sen. Fowler is a former U.S. Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia where he served from 1996 to 2001. In April 2001, the Federal Bureau of Investigation awarded him The Jefferson Cup, its highest civilian honor, for his assistance in combating terrorism and for helping solve the terrorism crimes against the U.S. military in Saudi Arabia. Sen. Fowler served for 16 years in the U.S. Congress. He was elected to the U.S. Senate in 1986 where he served as assistant floor leader. He was also a member of the Senate Appropriations, Budget, Energy and Agriculture Committees. Sen. Fowler was first elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1977 where he served on the Ways and Means and Foreign Affairs Committees, the Select Committee on Intelligence and the Congressional Arts Caucus. Previous to this, Sen. Fowler practiced law in Atlanta, Ga. and was elected, at age 29, to the Atlanta City Council. After four years on the Council, he was selected to be president and served in that capacity until his election to the U.S. Congress. A native of Atlanta, Sen. Fowler earned a bachelor’s degree from Davidson College in 1962 and a law degree from Emory University in 1969. He currently is engaged in an international business and law practice in Washington, D.C. and serves as Chairman of the Board of the Middle East Institute, a non-profit research foundation located in Washington. D.C.
Mike Juneman is responsible for U.S. options exchange operations for Citadel Investment Group. Prior to joining Citadel, Mike was Vice President responsible for U.S. exchange operations for Timber Hill LLC, where he worked from 1995 to 2004 in a variety of trading and managerial positions. He received a degree in public relations from Illinois State University in 1991, when he began his career in the options industry at the Chicago Board Options Exchange.
Julius Meisel, a partner of Largo Trading L.P., has been a member of the Philadelphia Stock Exchange and a registered option trader since 1985. From 1989 through 2006, Mr. Meisel was President of JM Investments Inc., a PHLX member firm. He also served on the PHLX Allocations Committee from 2000 to 2002 and on the Business Conduct Committee from 2002 to present. Mr. Meisel is a graduate of Rutgers University.
Ms. Myers has been Associate Professor of Temple Law School since 1993. She previously served as a consultant at the Center on Professionalism at the University of Pennsylvania Law School from 1989 to 1993. From 1983 to 1988, Ms. Myers was Associate University Counsel to Temple University and Associate Attorney from 1976 to 1983 with the firm Fine, Kaplan and Black with responsibilities primarily in antitrust and securities litigation. She is also a member of the American Law Institute and has received several awards for law school teaching and curriculum design.
Daniel O’Rourke is a Managing Director of Swiss Re Financial Products based in New York, where he is responsible for equity trading and risk management. Prior to joining Swiss Re, Dan was a Managing Director of Goldman Sachs Group from 1989 to 2005. There he was Global Equities Division Risk Manager, CEO of OptEx Services, managed equity derivatives sales and trading in Asia, managed equity derivatives trading in Europe and senior trader of US equity options. He has served on various committees for the American Stock Exchange, International Stock Exchange, New York Options Exchange and Securities Industry Association. A native of Miami, Florida, Dan graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Physics and an MBA from the University of Florida.
Dr. Papadakis previously served as Dean of the College of Engineering at the University of Cincinnati and Department Chair of the Civil Engineering Department at Colorado State University. Prior to joining academia, he was Vice President of Tetra Tech, a Honeywell subsidiary at that time. He has served as a Vice President and Corporate Director of STS Consultants, Ltd. as well as Chief Engineer at Bechtel, Inc. Dr. Papadakis presently serves on the Boards of the National Commission for Cooperative Education, the University City Science Center, the Ben Franklin Technology Center of Southeastern Pennsylvania, the Greater Philadelphia First Partnership for Economic Development, the Liberty Bell Council of the Boy Scouts of America, WHYY, Inc., The Opera Co. of Philadelphia and Corcell Incorporated. Charles P. Pizzi was named president and CEO of Tasty Baking Company on October 7, 2002. He is responsible for all operations of the fourth largest baking company in the United States. Tasty Baking Company, headquartered in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania is the manufacturer of the popular Tastykake brand, sold in 49 states. Mr. Pizzi was appointed president and chief executive officer of the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce in April 1989. In his role as the region's chief business advocate, he fostered relationships with elected officials at every level of government - from county commissioners to the region's congressional delegation - to affect positive change resulting in new legislation to enhance the competition of the region. As a result of his efforts, Charlie was named vice chairman of the American Chamber of Commerce Executives in 1997 and chairman of the Metro Council Presidents in 1998. Under Mr. Pizzi's leadership, the Chamber became one of the nation's largest, representing more than 6,000 members. Prior to his appointment as president of the Chamber, Mr. Pizzi served as commerce director for the City of Philadelphia, where he implemented the City's economic development strategies and served as chairman of the Mayor's Development Cabinet. Mr. Pizzi is a member of numerous local and regional corporate boards of directors. He is also active in civic and community affairs and serves on the boards of numerous non-profit organizations Mr. Pizzi is a graduate of LaSalle University where he received his bachelor's degree in Business Administration. He also holds a master's degree from the University of Pennsylvania. Senator Pressler has made numerous trips on international business to India, Brazil, Europe, and China. He is a frequent speaker at investment banking conferences on the future of telecommunications policy and recently lectured at Harvard on "Corporate Governance." Senator Pressler has remained active in the political arena. In 2000, he was a member of Republican Presidential Candidate George W. Bush's Information Technology Steering Committee, and also served on the Bush Presidential Transition Team in 2001. From November 2004 to January 2005, Senator Pressler served on the official U.S. observation team for the Ukrainian presidential elections, traveling twice to Kiev and Odessa, Ukraine, for which Vice President Cheney sent him a letter of commendation. Senator Pressler has taught or lectured at numerous universities both in the U.S. and abroad, including Harvard and being the Distinguished Visiting Professor of Government and Public Administration at St. John’s University in New York. Senator Pressler is currently a Lawyer, Member of four corporate boards of directors/advisors; Senior Advisor Monticello Capital; University Lecturer; Member of Congress (R-SD) for 22 years: 18 in the U.S. Senate, four in the U.S. House; Author of the Telecommunications Act of 1996; Chairman of the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee; Foreign Relations Committee – Chairman of the European and Asian Subcommittees; Author of various aviation, pipeline, transportation, satellite, foreign policy, business, agriculture, senior citizen and trade legislation during his time in Congress; Vietnam Combat Veteran (U.S. Army); Foreign Service Officer; Harvard Kennedy School of Government (MPA); Harvard Law School (JD); Rhodes Scholar at Oxford, England (graduate diploma); University of South Dakota (BA). Ambassador Richard Sklar is currently President of the Public Utilities Commission in San Francisco. His career started with the founding and 15-year management of a Cleveland-based construction machinery manufacturing company that brought innovative technology to the heavy construction industry. His career has been marked by numerous other projects that have benefited the business and public sectors. From 1997-1999, Sklar served as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations where he was responsible for U.S. efforts to reform management, budgetary, financing and personnel practices. In 1996, he served as special representative of the President of the United States for Civilian Implementation of the Bosnian Peace Accords. Prior to this, from 1983 to 1996, he served successively as Director of Program Management, Executive Vice President and President of O’Brien, Kreitzberg and Associates, the largest project and construction management firm in the U.S. At the request of the Governor of California, he oversaw the construction of a new electric power generating facility needed to bring an end to the California energy crisis of 2001. He successfully completed the project in 2002. He graduated from Cornell University with a Bachelor’s degree
in Mechanical Engineering in 1957 and received a Master’s Equivalency
from Cornell in 1988.
Mr. Sperling is Senior Fellow for Economic Policy at the Council on Foreign Relations in Washington, D.C. He is also the Director of the Center for Universal Education. He serves as co-chair of the Advisory Board of the Basic Education Coalition and is chairman of the U.S. chapter of the Global Campaign for Education. Mr. Sperling is a contributing editor and columnist for Bloomberg News, and serves as a consultant for financial organizations and key members of Congress. He is also a consultant and contributing writer for the television show The West Wing. He has appeared frequently on national television and has had work published in numerous national publications. Formerly, Mr. Sperling served as National Economic Advisor and Director of the National Economic Council during former President Clinton's second term and Deputy Director during his first term in office. In addition, he was the third and longest serving director of the National Economic Council. A native of Ann Arbor, Michigan, Mr. Sperling graduated from the University of Minnesota and the Yale Law School. He also attended the Wharton Business School.
William J. Stallkamp is a Managing Director of the Penn Hudson Financial Group, Inc., a financial consulting firm specializing in providing restructuring services to public and privately held businesses. Mr. Stallkamp served as Fund Advisor and Chairman of the Operating Committee of Safeguard Scientifics, Inc. from 2000 to 2002. Mr. Stallkamp retired in 2000 as Vice Chairman of Mellon Financial Corporation. He joined Mellon in 1962 as a management trainee and served in a management capacity in various departments throughout his tenure. He became Chairman and CEO of Mellon PSFS on January 1, 1996 and was responsible for banking activities in the five-county Philadelphia region and southern New Jersey. Mr. Stallkamp is a member of the board of directors of Matthews International, Inc.; Smithers-Oasis Company; W.J. Cowee, Inc.; Highmark-Blue Cross/Blue Shield; United Concordia Insurance Company; Chairman of Akcelerant Holdings, Inc.; The Franklin Institute; Gwynedd Mercy College; the American Red Cross Southeastern Pennsylvania Chapter; and the YMCA of Philadelphia & Vicinity. A native of Quincy, Massachusetts, Mr. Stallkamp received his Bachelor’s
degree in business administration from Miami University in Oxford,
Ohio.
Gary Yetman is Managing Director, Vice Chairman of Global Equity Financing & Services in the Global Markets & Investment Banking Division of Merrill Lynch. Global Equity Financing comprises Prime Brokerage, Stock Loan, Equity Swaps and ML Professional Clearing. Gary joined Merrill Lynch in June 1980 as part of Merrill Lynch’s acquisition of Wagner Stott & Co.’s financing and clearing business (Merrill Lynch Professional Clearing). As a general partner of Wagner Stott, he was responsible for operations, finance, stock loan and clearing. He continues to be Chairman of Merrill Lynch Professional Clearing. Prior to joining Wagner Stott, Gary was a Manager in the Tax Department of the public accounting firm Oppenheimer, Appel, Dixon & Co. Gary holds a B.B.A. from Adelphi University with majors in accounting
and finance. He also holds a J.D. from Brooklyn Law School and has
completed advance study in taxation at New York University Law School.
He was admitted to New York State Bar in October 1975. He was a member
of the Wall Street Tax Association from 1983 through 1993, as well
as a member of the Philadelphia Stock Exchange Option Committee Board
from 1986 through 1988. Gary is currently a member of the Board of
Directors of the Options Clearing Corporation.
Ms. White became the Vice President and General Counsel for the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Pennsylvania Health System in 2001. From 1999, Ms. White served as Deputy General Counsel for the University of Pennsylvania. She was also a partner in the law firm of Shea & Gardner in Washington, D.C. from 1981 to 1999, where she specialized in issues relating to non-profit institutions, labor and employment, products liability and commercial litigation. In addition, Ms. White served as Associate Counsel to the President of the United States from 1996 to 1997. Ms White attended Goucher College (A.B., magna cum laude, 1972) where
she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. She received her law degree from
the University of Pennsylvania (J.D., magna cum laude) and was an
Editor of the Law Review and a member of Order of the Coif. Ms. White
is a member of the American Law Institute, The Pennsylvania Bar and
the District of Columbia Bar. Ms. White is a frequent speaker on labor
and employment, higher education and ethics issues. |
