Nasdaq to add new Instrument Types and Instrument Codes to MFQS Directory, MFQS Daily List, and MFDS

What you need to know:

Effective Monday, March 26, 2018, Nasdaq will add 4 new codes for Instrument Type and 4 new codes for Instrument Code to the MFQS Daily List and MFQS Directory. The addition of these Types and Codes will also be new additions to the MFDS feed.

Nasdaq is adding the ability for MFQS issuers to now list Managed Accounts, CIT funds, Separate Accounts, and Hedge Funds. Along with these new Fund Types, Nasdaq is adding corresponding Instrument Codes.

This is part of the MFQS desire to create additional market transparency our customers can use to better leverage the MFQS product.


What is changing?

On Monday, March 26, 2018 , Nasdaq will release new MFQS Instrument Types to be added to the existing Instrument Type field. The new Instrument Types are as follows:

As part of the March 2018 release, Nasdaq will also add four new values to the existing Instrument Code field. The new values will be:

Please note that Nasdaq will also support the Instrument Registration and Instrument Code fields on the MFQS Daily List and MFDS Specification.

No new instrument code for Hedge Funds is being introduced as they already have an existing code.

How can I test these MFQS changes?

Nasdaq will offer the following testing opportunities:

  • Evening test transmissions for MFDS data feed subscribers will be announced by January 10, 2018. Nasdaq plans to broadcast MFDS pre-formatted test messages via production IP multicast channels from 9:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. ET.
  • Nasdaq has created the following sample files for the MFQS Daily List and MFQS Symbol Directory files for client testing purposes. Please use the links below to download.

Nasdaq will offer two Saturday User Acceptance Tests (UATs) for MFQS issuers, pricing agents and market data vendors on:

  • Saturday, March 10, 2018 – UAT
  • Saturday, March 24, 2018 – Confidence Test

Firms wishing to participate in the UATs should complete and submit the MFQS testing registration form to Nasdaq Mutual Fund Operations by the Thursday before the scheduled test date.
